This Spotlight Interview is with our fab CEO – Becky Munday

How did your career in promotions start?

I moved down from Leeds and applied for all of the marketing jobs that were close to home in Buckinghamshire. I picked the one at Mando as it was closest to Mum. I’ve never been a fan of driving.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

The people, I love the team of people at Mando and watching them grow has been my biggest pleasure.

What’s a fact about yourself that surprises people?

I love to spend time in the veg patch. It started during lockdown to give myself a project and I now love it. I grow as much as I can, so I often end up with baskets of goodies for the team at Mando.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

I wanted to be a teacher but after only one week of work experience I realised I do not have the patience.

If you could manifest your future, where would you be in 20 years?

Living in Italy, both boys happy and complete in themselves. The boys coming to stay for holidays with their friends or families.

Where’s your favourite place that you’ve travelled?

I love Australia, the countryside and the way of life. I was lucky enough to go there for a work project but I would love to go back with my family and explore properly.

What is your food heaven and food hell?

I love all Italian food and wine.  I am not a meat eater so that is sometimes challenging, but getting better now. When I was 18 it was very difficult to ever find something on the menu which wasn’t meat.

What is your biggest work achievement?

A few years ago we were able to raise 27k for Coppafeel! by doing a trek with my dad and Leonie up the Himalayas. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I feel honoured to have experienced that with my 75 year old dad, who most probably complained the least!

What has been your biggest achievement/proud of outside of work?

My children. I am lucky enough to be a mum and although they drive me mad (especially when they eat everything in the fridge) I love my boys dearly.

What is your favourite ever promotion?

This is a really tricky one as we have been involved in so many. I think it will have to be McDonald’s Monopoly as being involved from the beginning ( 17 years ago now) and watching it change to adapt to the current communication tools has been fascinating. The level of consumer engagement and hype around this promotion is not replicated by anyone.

What do you think sets Mando apart?

The people. I know everyone says that but I really mean it. We all have a common goal to provide the best possible service all of the time whilst having fun. That we do a lot and our parties are the best.

If you could master a new skill what would it be?

I’d love to train to be a yoga teacher and meditate, as I need to learn how to slow down and breathe!
